Breathlessly charming Jean Seberg
Jean Seberg in Breathless. Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby. Warhol darling Edie Sedgwick. Twiggy. The pixie cut is nothing new, but it made headlines most recently when Emma Watson was seen sporting it. She said of the cut, "It's the most liberating thing ever."
In 1967, renowned stylist Vidal Sassoon made headlines when he created the close-cropped pixie cut Farrow wears in Rosemary's Baby. Sassoon explained the cut in an interview:
Roman Polanski was a friend, and he called me and said, "Would you like to come to Hollywood and cut Mia Farrow's hair for 'Rosemary's Baby?'" I said, "Roman, I did it about six weeks ago." He said, "Yes, but there's always something to take off." And of course I went to Hollywood. She was Mrs. Sinatra at the time, and suddenly all this press showed up.Other modern wearers of the pixie cut are Michelle Williams, Audrey Tautou, Victoria Beckham and Carey Mulligan to name a few. It's the perfect 'do for the upcoming hot summer months.
