Olivia Palermo in a faux fur vest, dress and boots, all by Tibi
I have a lukewarm relationship with fur coats... and Olivia Palermo. Palermo styled the above look for her Web site, and I actually really like it. While I think she has impeccable taste, I'll always inevitably remember the uncomfortable way she butted heads with Erin Kaplan in the short-lived reality series The City -- as well as her snooty manner, cold, vacant stares and inability to pull enough pieces for Joe Zee's segment on the Today show. Whether or not MTV purposely edited everything to portray her in this way, who knows.
Also, I'm rather certain a bad photograph does not exist of her, therefore she is a robot.
I typically have an aversion to fur for fear of looking like a yeti, but must admit, I'm really digging the way people like Olivia, Kate Moss and Kate Hudson wear it, or even icons of the past, like Marianne Faithfull, Anita Pallenberg and Jane Birkin. Though fur coats of the '40s and '50s were very sophisticated and polished, I like the bohemian, rock 'n roll vibe of the '60s and '70s.
