Sylvie Vartan with the Beatles, holding Paul's Hofner bass guitar.
Sylvie Vartan is a French singer who enjoyed popularity in the '60s as one of France's most famous yé-yé girls (yé-yé was a style of pop music, derived from "yeah! yeah!"). Though she was a great success in her country in her own right, she had the enviable distinction of sharing a bill with the Beatles at Paris' Olympia Theater in 1964 and there are several photos of Vartan with the group that I love. Vartan was also famously known as one half of rock 'n roll royalty in France back in the day when she married French singer Johnny Hallyday, who was considered to be the French Elvis Presley. She has had a very long and successful career, having toured and performed as recently as 2009.
