Jean Shrimpton and Steve McQueen photographed by Richard Avedon for Harper's Bazaar
This fantastic editorial from a 1965 issue of Harper's Bazaar features screen icon Steve McQueen and '60s It Girl Jean Shrimpton, photographed by Richard Avedon.
For as popular and successful as Shrimpton was in her modeling career in the '60s, I read an interesting article about her in The Guardian earlier this year where she expressed her disdain for the fashion industry. Shrimpton retired from modeling in her 30s and has since avoided the lime light.
"Fashion is full of dark, troubled people...It's a high-pressured environment that takes its toll and burns people out. Only the shrewd survive – Andy Warhol, for example, and David Bailey.
"...It's hypocritical to pretend that fashion is normal, that people in it are role models. And it's stupid to deny that people behave badly." (source)
