Through the Lens: Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly

Audrey Hepburn on the set of Breakfast at Tiffany's - onlookers watch from the background as the scene is filmed.

I'm wearing a sleeveless little black dress to work today, which makes me feel very Audrey Hepburn a la Breakfast at Tiffany's.  It was a size too big when I bought it, but I couldn't pass it up -- it was a steal and I really liked the shape and cut.  I had it hemmed and now it fits perfectly.

Here are some behind-the-scene images of Hepburn on set with cast and crew.  It's no wonder a song as beautiful as Moon River was inspired by her -- it was written by Henry Mancini to suit her vocal range and character.  Truman Capote wasn't happy with director Blake Edwards' choice of Hepburn for the film and wanted Marilyn Monroe, but I really couldn't imagine anyone else as Holly Golightly now.  She really made the character her own.  For more fun tidbits and pictures, I'd recommend Sam Wasson's book Fifth Avenue at 5 a.m.
