style inspiration: Military Green

Grace Slick photographed in San Francisco by Baron Wolman for Rolling Stone, 1968, and the self-portrait Slick painted.

Military green is one of my favorite colors to wear -- it's versatile and can be both masculine and feminine depending on what you pair it with.  I think I realized that I loved this look when I first saw this photo of Grace Slick, taken by Rolling Stone magazine's first photographer, Baron Wolman, in San Francisco in 1968.  Military-inspired fashion -- like Slick's army green jacket -- gained popularity in the late '60s and 1970s.
The fatigue jacket was introduced to service in 1943; the same jacket, beginning with military surplus, became popular fashion in the 1970s, ironically largely associated with militant anti-establishment advocates of Black Power and the Vietnam Antiwar movement. (Source)

I see this trend everywhere now, and styled in various different ways.
