Oh, Lykke Li. How I eagerly anticipate whatever musical endeavors she pursues next. I was cleaning up my car and found her first album, Youth Novels, tucked away in a CD sleeve for a Connie Francis compilation (random!), so I have been listening to it non-stop since it had been a while since I'd heard it. It made me realize how fantastic her second album, Wounded Rhymes, was.
Aside from having a unique perspective and voice, she also has a distinct sense of style, which usually veers toward all black or all white and evokes a bohemian vibe, with the wide-brimmed hats, turbans and a penchant for furry coats. It seems this look would be natural, considering her background -- the Swedish songstress was raised by hippie parents, a photographer mother and musician father, and had a rather nomadic childhood, having lived in Lisbon, Morocco and India.
