Through the Lens: Rooney Mara in Interview Magazine, March 2013

Rooney Mara wears a dress and choker by Givenchy.  Photo by Mikael Jansson.  Styled by Ludivine Poiblanc.

Rooney Mara is probably my current favorite in fashion ever since she revamped her look for her role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and showed up at premieres with slicked back black hair and very tailored, streamlined and structured clothing.  Her photo shoot for the March 2013 issue of Interview is beautiful and what I would describe as futuristic film noir -- although I could totally envision her as Patricia Neal as Dominique Francon in 1949's The Fountainhead.  She would be perfect in that era.

An amusing excerpt from the interview between Mara and director Stephen Soderbergh, about Mara's favorite body part:
SODERBERGH: You seem very content with your feet. Why is that?

MARA: Wow . . . I need to remember to keep that one closer to the chest next time. I don’t know. They are just pretty great feet. They get me to where I need to be—usually on time. They don’t smell. They are a nice size. Long toes . . .

SODERBERGH: I don’t like seeing men’s feet. It’s too intimate. Don’t you think flip-flops and sandals on men should be outlawed?

MARA: No. I like flip-flops on men. I am not grossed out by feet. I’ve never seen your feet, though, so that could change.
