Nick Waterhouse and his band at the Mercury Lounge in NYC.
I was so glad to finally see Nick Waterhouse live at the Mercury Lounge last night (I'd previously written about him here). He was preceded by the Spires (who I missed) and the Starlight Girls. The Starlight Girls were a fun, energetic group -- they projected retro images on the screen and sang music that bordered on '60s surf rock and '70s psychedelic-pop.
He played to a sold-out and enthusiastic crowd. Nick and his band were a tight outfit -- awesome musicians and astoundingly good back-up singers. There was a lot of dancing and a great energy. After the show he was kind enough to chat with my me and my friends and he was such a genuinely nice and classy guy. I'd highly recommend going to a show if he's playing your area.
