Through the Lens: Magic in the Moonlight

Colin Firth and Emma Stone star in Woody Allen's upcoming rom-com that takes place in 1920s, Jazz Age France. The film looks enchanting, with Stone playing a psychic to an influential family and Firth the man who is looking to prove her a fraud. I'm sure I'll delve deeper into the film as more stills are released, as I already love the costumes and set design from what I can see.

Through the Lens: Favorites of the Met Ball 2014

Blake Lively stuns in Gucci at the Met Ball.

I wasn't alone in thinking Blake Lively was the belle of last night's Met Ball, the museum's annual Costume Institute Gala. The event is a spectacle and has always been exclusive -- Anna Wintour hand-picks the guest list; a single ticket this year ran a cool $25,000 (which to 9-to-fivers like myself, is not jarring in the least). The gala is known to be a merging of art and fashion, bringing out Hollywood A-listers, musicians that are equally talented as they are stylish, top names and faces in fashion, and a few people in between who are considered head-scratchers to me.

I'm a fan of very structured and classic silhouettes -- and the exhibit kicking the event off is in honor of British-born designer and couturier Charles James, who was known for his highly structured aesthetic and ball gowns and has inspired such designers as Balenciaga and Dior. I think my favorite dresses of the night nailed that.

"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" can be viewed through August 10th at the Anna Wintour Costume Center at the Met.
