Through the Lens: DVF x Natalie Joos

Wish they all could be California Girls: Z Berg and Paige Elkington in DVF S/S 15 runway collection.

Natalie Joos is a woman who wears many creative hats -- fashion consultant, casting agent, writer, stylist, photographer, curator of all things gorgeous, basically. I always enjoy the stories on her beautiful site Tales of Endearment. Her latest updates are in collaboration with Diane von Furstenberg, in which she styled and photographed musician Z Berg (previously written about here) and vintage connoisseur/model Paige Elkington at LA's iconic Pink Motel in DVF's spring/summer collection. The collection has the feminine silhouettes and defined waistlines of the '50s and '60s, and a bold and playful mix of prints, like gingham and stripes.

Joos explains the collection was inspired by Brigitte Bardot and the French Riviera -- the retro influences are obvious. Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief also springs to mind. Dolce & Gabbana did their own take on the Riviera glam back in 2009, proving the inspiration for the past can still be reinvented and fresh. The styling is impeccable with the bold red lip throughout and vintage touches thrown in here and there (like the hats and shades).

Here are some of my favorite snaps from the shoot:
