Behind the Lens: Diane Kruger is Golden Age Glam

I am obsessed with Violet Grey's photo shoots, particularly this latest one featuring Diane Kruger on the Paramount Studios lot in Los Angeles, exuding Old Hollywood glamour. To me, the shoot is actually very reminiscent of Mark Shaw's photographs of Audrey Hepburn on the set of Sabrina -- goofing on a bicycle in the lot, getting her makeup done -- with shades of Grace Kelly and Brigitte Bardot. Her own inspiration though, is a different French beauty.
“Growing up my favorite actress was Romy Schneider,” she says of one of her inspirations. “She moved to France to make a movie and fell in love with Alain Delon and made amazing films in French. I thought if the French liked her as a German then maybe they would like me.”
And a comparison of old versus new, with some Audrey, Grace and Brigitte in the mix with Diane's photos -- can you even tell the difference?
